SaiFlow
Providing contextualized cyber security monitoring, network observability and energy anomaly detection, tailored to EV charging and distributed energy networks.
Description
Given their dispersed nature, electric vehicle (EV) charging sites and distributed energy networks rely heavily on internet connectivity and SaaS cloud platforms for remote management, maintenance, and overall enhanced energy network utilization.
However, these EV charging sites and energy networks, which are characterized by unique architectures, protocols (such as Open Charge Point Protocol [OCPP], Open Charge Point Interface [OCPI], and Open Automated Demand Response [OpenADR]), and energy flow controls face significant cybersecurity risks and exposures.
Issues include unprotected internet connectivity, insufficient authentication and encryption, absence of network segmentation, lack of cyber monitoring and visibility tools, unmanaged assets, and more. Cyberattacks targeting the EV charging infrastructure and distributed energy networks are a challenge to detect and prevent in real time solely based on the network activities and communication flows without the right context.
Organizations need a robust cybersecurity solution for EV charging and distributed energy networks that seamlessly integrates advanced detection capabilities, enhanced observability abilities, and contextualized risk management, combining energy telemetry with network data for comprehensive risk management and protection of energy devices.
What makes it different
In comparison to other generic OT/IoT cybersecurity companies, SaiFlow’s main differentiation:
- SaiFlow’s SaaS platform monitors and fuses network communication and energy/charging activities to detect suspicious and malicious activities. The platform alerts both on energy-related anomalies and suspicious network activities. This ability allows SaiFlow to monitor and detect events that are not visible over the network (such as Bluetooth attacks, etc.).
- SaiFlow’s solution is fully compatible with the OCPP standard (both version 1.6 and 2.0.1), and natively supports all OCPP security profiles. SaiFlow developed a state-of-the-art OCPP security GW that monitors and prevents malicious activities over the CSMS <-> EVSE channels. I.e., the solution is not an “out-of-band"" solution.
- SaiFlow’s platform supports all standard energy-related protocols such as IEC 61850, Sunspec Modbus, and more, to both passively monitor the communication and actively pull energy telemetry and assets details.
- SaiFlow’s SaaS system natively connects to all the chargers and assets on site. It can protect and monitor both chargers that use cellular networks and LAN, without the need to install any agents on-site. The deployment is simple and requires only a single configuration change in the charging stations.
- SaiFlow’s solution not only monitors suspicious activities but also prevents unknown URLs, fraud attempts, and more.
