Description
The HyDrop i-CAES technology ("i" for isothermal) developed by Storage Drop Ltd. consists of direct isothermal compression of air with water in specially designed vessels, via variable speed pumps, long duration storage of compressed air in high pressure vessels and discharge of energy, when energy is needed, by having compressed air pushing water into hydraulic Pelton and Francis type turbines to generate electricity.
What makes it different
• “Green” components only: air and water / No chemicals or hazardous materials involved.
• Reduced power consumption for the same output as compared to other compressor systems (about 30% less).
• O&M of the system is very simple and results in life expectancy of about 40 years.
• No yearly degradation in system performance
• Does not require replacement after 10 – 12 years.
• No hazardous materials removal required at end of life.
• Storage durations of more than 10 hours can be easily achieved.
