"The steel industry emits ~9% of global GHG emissions, mainly from carbon-reliant Blast Furnaces (BFs).
Sustainable methods like Direct Reduced Iron (DRI) using natural gas or hydrogen face technical and financial challenges, hindering their adoption to meet net-zero targets.

It operates at lower temperatures (250-350°C) and consumes less energy (<4MWh/Mt), compared to BF and DRI (reaching or exceed 1000°C). Unlike competitors, it requires no pre-treatments, handles various ore grades including low grades and tailing, and recycles the sodium in a circular system, reducing OPEX by 30%.
