"The steel industry emits ~9% of global GHG emissions, mainly from carbon-reliant Blast Furnaces (BFs).
Sustainable methods like Direct Reduced Iron (DRI) using natural gas or hydrogen face technical and financial challenges, hindering their adoption to meet net-zero targets.
High-grade ore reserves are depleting, increasing mining challenges. BFs and DRI need ores of ≥62% and ≥67% Fe grades, respectively, leading to costly, emitting pre-treatment processes.
Producing high-grade ore generates billions of tons of tailings and waste- posing environmental and financial burdens."

What makes it different

Helios Cycle™ stands out by using sodium instead of carbon, achieving zero CO2 emissions and producing green iron. It operates at lower temperatures (250-350°C) and consumes less energy (<4MWh/Mt), compared to BF and DRI (reaching or exceed 1000°C). Unlike competitors, it requires no pre-treatments, handles various ore grades including low grades and tailing, and recycles the sodium in a circular system, reducing OPEX by 30%. It allows flexibility for on-site production near mining sites, cutting shipping costs and Scope-3 emissions by ~ 50%, enabling value chain transformation.
