Description

The hydrogen industry is at the crossroads. Clean hydrogen is much too expensive. In most cases, the main issue is actually the cost of its storage and transportation.
Conventional hydrogen storage technologies (compression, liquefaction, ammonia, LOHCs, etc.) require extreme conditions of compression and/or temperature and are therefore energy inefficient. They use toxic, flammable and/or explosive materials which are cumbersome and expensive to handle. The result: high OpEx and CapEx as well as complex and highly regulated supply chain.

What makes it different

Hydro X has developed a disruptive hydrogen storage technology which enables us to store and transport hydrogen in this water-based, non-toxic, non-flammable and non-explosive liquid carrier, reducing the infrastructure investment and CapEx costs of hydrogen projects and de-risking them.
Operating at close-to-ambient temperature and pressure (on both sides of the reaction), Hydro X technology requires less than 2.5kWh of energy per kg of hydrogen. With 94% energy efficiency, it reduces significantly the OpEx costs of hydrogen storage and transportation.
Hydro X drives the cost of hydrogen storage and transportation to below US$1 per kg. Even cheaper than salt caverns for long-term storage and much (actually 4 times) cheaper than ammonia for long-distance ship transportation.
